TERRA ALTA, W.Va. — A new book “Writerly Advice” has been written by members of West Virginia Writers Inc.
Several of the writers for this book live in the Parkersburg area.
“Writerly Advice” is designed to tell you how to write a book, from start to finish. The writers presents a series of lessons offering tips, tricks and inspiration for writers of all skill levels and genres, they said.
Released by Headline Books (Terra Alta), 2018 Independent Publisher of the Year, this book is described as having a writers conference at your fingertips. W.Va. Writers’ annual conference was held June 7-9 at Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley.
The writers discuss writing historical fiction, romance novels, westerns and more. The authors cover the aspects of each genre and the techniques common to all great writing, they said.
Advice is provided from a panel of poets, each of whom draws from a personal background and style. These essays are designed to help a person find the courage to get started, inspire you to try writing a memoir or short play, and encourage you to make time for your creativity, the authors said.
Now celebrating its 42nd anniversary year, West Virginia Writers Inc. is described as the largest all-volunteer writers’ resource and service organization serving literary interests in West Virginia. Its aim is to expand and develop creative writing and professional opportunities for writers and to connect the state’s writers with others in the literary community and the public at large.
