Echoes Amongst Us is a memoir that follows the life of a beautiful woman’s journey through love, work, betrayal, and disappointment while her biological clock is ticking, ticking, ticking.
Attractive, curious and single, Linda is on a spiritual quest to discover her life’s meaning. Searching for pieces of her life’s puzzle, she finds answers—primarily in her sleep. Having been a prophetic dreamer since childhood, cause her to take a radical step. She gives up her belongings, quits her job in entertainment in Hollywood and heads to Berlin. There, she thought she was free from the inauthenticity she encountered in entertainment, but she gets drugged and her days begin to take on the same tone as her nights.
Never one for convention and an unwillingness to accept a traditional lifestyle made Linda independent. She leaves Germany for New York. In a constant reverie, she is presented with so much information, how can she know what to believe? Why was she given this ability, when it is intrusive? Her financial life once lavish—dives. She goes through the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to do or be. As time wears on harrowing experiences cause her to lift the veil, and see her true identity.
“I wrote this after frequently being asked about my travels; it was then that I realized I lead a life most others want, ” she said.
LaRoche is a journalist, screenwriter, teacher, and public relations specialist. While working in the television industry, she produced The Trouble with Tonia, in which she won the Silver Star Award for Producer at the Houston Film Festival and the Best Film award at Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival. It was lauded in Aztlán Film Institute’s Top 100 List.
As a journalist, her work appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Weekly, In Style magazine, New Age, Performing Arts, and as a columnist in Pasadena Weekly and the Pasadena Star-News.
Her fictional short stories have been published in literary magazines Glimmer Train Press and Missouri Review.
She taught creative writing and blogging at the College of Southern Nevada, and wrote the eBook, How to Write Short Stories to be Proud Of.
Her first novel, Dust unto Shadow, was a lyrical memoir of an immigrant family.
Echoes Amongst Us is her second novel.
